Brighton Dolphin Welfare Officer

It is good practice for all sports clubs to have a Welfare Officer. Sue England is the Welfare Officer for the club and currently teaches in the flexi pool on a Tuesday evening.

If you have any concerns about the welfare of any of our members or you are a member and are worried about something and would like to talk to Sue at the pool she is normally at the Prince Regent on a Tuesday evening or can be contacted by email at sue@bdsc.co.uk

Club Championships Cups

Please would all swimmers who won a trophy in the 2011 Club Championships return (polished to a gleam) to Audrey by the end of the month so we can get the  cups engraved ready to be presented to this year’s worthy winners.

Club Championships Results 2012

Please see the attached results sheet for the 2012 club championships, awards will be made on 25 November at our annual Christmas Party

Speed Awards

Over the summer (and as a starting point) I have collated a spreadsheet of swimmers times from this year’s club championships which will allow them to receive a speed award if they have met the target time set by the ASA in partnership with Kellogs. Over the coming weeks I will hand swimmers badge slips which will allow them to receive the badge and certificate gained. For those swimmers that do not take part in the club championships your individual teachers will take the opportunity over the coming months to time you over 25m, 50m and 100m if you would like to gain a speed award.

Car Park Closed

Please note the car park at the Prince Regent will be closed on Tuesday 30 October (Half Term week) for maintenance.

Success for Brighton Synchro Team

Six swimmers, ranging in age from 43 to 56 and one coach, attended the World Masters Competition in Riccione Italy earlier this summer. The swimmers, who have trained hard over the last year, performed 10 routines over the course of the week. A technical routine is performed first, with specific elements that have to be included, followed by a free routine. There were three duets, one trio and a team.

In the biggest Synchro competition in the world (over 500 synchro swimmers) the Dolphins were delighted to bring home medals for two events! Linda Doidge and Anne Long won bronze for the 50/59 duet and Linda Doidge, Liz Fitzsimons and Margaret Hamerton won bronze in the same age group for their trio.

The swimmers were, Linda Doidge, Liz Fitzsimons, Vikki Gimson, Gaye Greely, Margaret Hamerton and Anne Long.
